Nominations for candidates to serve as Commissioners of the Commission on the Promotion of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (“CRL Rights Commission”) are now open.Such Commissioners will serve for a period of five years, beginning from 01 March 2019 until end of February 2024.FOR SA strongly encourages the religious community to nominate suitable persons who possess of the necessary insight and expertise in religious matters, to ably and responsibly represent us on the CRL Rights Commission.In the last year – particularly in the context of the CRL Rights Commission’s report proposing the (State) regulation of religion in South Africa – we have seen the critical importance of having people serve on the Commission who will protect and promote our Constitutional rights to religious freedom.This is the religious community’s opportunity to ensure that the guardianship of these vital freedoms is entrusted to competent persons who are committed to safeguarding our institutional and individual freedom to believe, preach and teach, and practise our faith.Nominations must be submitted by no later than 30 September 2018 to:
