Advocate Richard Crompton
Advocate Richard Crompton has been practising law since 1998. Although he has enjoyed a varied practice, his primary focus has always been on constitutional law and administrative law, much to the surprise of his administrative law lecturer.
He began his legal career as the legal advisor to SAPU. He later lectured for ten years at Vista University, University of Port Elizabeth, and Nelson Mandela University, all from the same office and in the same lecture halls (thanks to the efforts of Prof. Kadar Asmal). During this time, he taught Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Labour Law, Legal Philosophy, International Law, and Interpretation of Statutes. He also provided much-needed assistance to insomniacs during his lectures.
Advocate Crompton has vast trial experience but has recently refocused his practice on constitutional law and administrative law. He is particularly passionate about religious freedom, a cause close to his heart as a third-generation pastor.
He is happily married to Heather and they have three sons.
